We explored how intermittent hypoxia, linked to sleep apnea, affects lung health by increasing oxidative stress and inflammation. In a study involving 32 mice, we compared various treatments, including L-glutathione and infliximab, against a control group.
Our findings revealed that while intermittent hypoxia elevated harmful markers in the lungs, both L-glutathione and infliximab showed potential in minimizing these adverse effects. However, it’s important to note that more research is needed to fully understand the benefits of L-glutathione on lung function in the context of sleep apnea.

Glutathione improves metabolic markers
[Effects of glutathione on oxidative stress, leptin and adiponectin in patients with obstructive sleep apnea complicated with metabolic syndrome].
We examined how glutathione influences patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and metabolic syndrome. In a study involving 159 patients with OSA, we compared them to another group focused solely on metabolic syndrome and a control group.
After treatment, we noticed significant improvements in oxidative stress markers. Specifically, levels of harmful substances decreased while beneficial factors increased in the OSA group receiving glutathione treatment.
While glutathione shows promise in reducing oxidative stress and improving metabolic factors, its direct impact on sleep apnea symptoms was not directly addressed in this study.

Taking it before bed has improved my quality of sleep, and I no longer wake up during the night. It's best on an empty stomach, although I often forget this and take it at night instead. The only downside is that it's difficult to swallow; a smaller capsule would be appreciated.

Sound sleep benefits

I've just started taking it this week, and the main benefit I've noticed so far is improved sleep quality. It helps me sleep soundly, and I appreciate that the supplement size is standard. The bottle is well-packaged, and I’m pleased that a herbal supplement like this is available at my age.
Sleep apnea is a common and potentially serious sleep disorder characterized by irregular breathing patterns during sleep. Individuals with sleep apnea experience episodes of disrupted or paused breathing, which can occur multiple times throughout the night. These interruptions can last a few seconds to several minutes and often lead to fragmented sleep, which may result in excessive daytime sleepiness, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. The condition can be broadly classified into two main types: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), caused by a blockage of the upper airway, and central sleep apnea (CSA), which occurs when the brain fails to send the proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.
The diagnosis of sleep apnea typically involves a sleep study, either conducted in a sleep clinic or at home using portable monitoring devices. Treatment options vary depending on the severity of the condition but may include lifestyle changes, the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, oral appliances, or even surgery in some cases. If left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to various health complications, including cardiovascular issues, metabolic disorders, and impaired cognitive function, making it essential to consult a healthcare professional if you suspect you or someone you know may be affected by this disorder.
L-glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that plays a crucial role in cellular health by protecting cells from oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals. It is a tripeptide composed of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamine, and glycine. Naturally produced in the body, L-glutathione is found in higher concentrations in the liver, where it aids in detoxification processes, immune system function, and the metabolism of various compounds. As we age or face various environmental stresses, our body's levels of glutathione may decrease, leading to potential health implications.
Based on user reviews, many individuals report experiencing improvements in their sleep quality within a week of starting glutathione supplementation. For instance, one user noted, "After taking it on an empty stomach before bedtime for about a week, I began to sleep better and woke up feeling refreshed" Read Review. Another user confirmed a similar experience, stating that after just a few days, their sleep became "incredibly deep" Read Review.
However, some users mentioned that the significant benefits became more apparent after several weeks to months of use. One user commented that after three months, not only was their sleep better, but they also noticed clearer skin Read Review. Overall, while initial results can be felt in about a week, users suggest that consistent use over a longer period may yield even greater benefits for sleep quality.
While there is some preliminary research suggesting that glutathione may have beneficial effects related to sleep apnea, the evidence remains inconclusive regarding its direct effects on sleep apnea symptoms themselves. A study involving 159 patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) found that glutathione treatment resulted in significant improvements in oxidative stress markers. However, it did not specifically address the direct impact of glutathione on sleep apnea symptoms (see [1]).
Moreover, another study focused on lung health in the context of sleep apnea demonstrated that L-glutathione could mitigate some of the adverse effects of intermittent hypoxia, a condition associated with sleep apnea. This research involved a smaller sample size of mice and also emphasizes the need for further studies to clarify the extent to which L-glutathione can benefit lung function specifically related to sleep apnea (see [2]). In summary, while there are indications that glutathione might play a supportive role, more targeted research is needed to draw firm conclusions about its efficacy for managing sleep apnea.
Based on user reviews, many individuals have reported noticeable improvements in their sleep quality after incorporating glutathione into their routines. Users have described a transition to deeper, uninterrupted sleep, with one reviewer highlighting that they "no longer wake up during the night" Read Review. Another user affirmed similar benefits, stating they enjoy "uninterrupted sleep," which has overall boosted their confidence and skin brightness Read Review.
Furthermore, many users have noted that their energy levels have increased significantly alongside better sleep, often attributing their newfound motivation to the supplement. For example, one user shared that they started feeling "more energetic and motivated" after starting glutathione Read Review. However, it's worth mentioning that results can vary significantly from person to person; while some users reported enhanced sleep quality almost immediately, others found improvements developed over several weeks Read Review. Overall, consistent use appears to be the key to reaping the full benefits of glutathione.
Users have reported positive experiences when combining glutathione with other supplements to help manage sleep apnea and improve overall sleep quality. Notably, one review mentioned taking both glutathione and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), stating that this combination effectively boosted glutathione levels and improved sleep quality when taken in the morning and at bedtime respectively Read Review. Another user found that coupling glutathione with melatonin enhanced their ability to sleep better than before, especially with their pre-existing sleep disorder Read Review.
Furthermore, several users noted that the effect of glutathione on sleep was even more pronounced when taken with vitamin C, with one user appreciating the synergy for better absorption Read Review. This suggests that combining glutathione with these supplements is promising for individuals looking to address sleep issues, such as sleep apnea, potentially amplifying the benefits of improved energy levels and deeper sleep experiences Read Review. Overall, the insights from users highlight the potential advantages of a combined supplementation approach in enhancing sleep quality.
Users report positive effects of L Glutathione on sleep quality, with many noting better sleep after taking it regularly, often around bedtime. Some have indicated that taking it on an empty stomach enhances its effectiveness, while others don't adhere strictly to this guideline and still experience improved sleep. For instance, a user found that taking Glutathione before bed markedly improved their sleep quality and helped them avoid waking during the night Read Review. Another user stated a noticeable increase in deep sleep quality after taking it for just a week, indicating that even short-term use can yield appreciable benefits Read Review.
As for dosing, while none reported a specific standard dosage for treating sleep apnea, anecdotal references suggest that one capsule taken before bedtime generally suffices to achieve positive results for sleep quality. A user emphasized that taking one capsule at night contributed to deeper sleep Read Review, while another mentioned taking two capsules for better effects Read Review. Ultimately, users advocate for finding what works best on an individual basis, particularly adjusting their timing and quantity based on personal outcomes.

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant. After a week, I noticed deeper sleep, slight improvements in my skin and hair, and increased bathroom visits. Drinking more water while taking it is crucial. For better absorption, it helps to combine it with vitamin C, although it can be quite pricey. N-acetyl cysteine is a cheaper alternative to boost glutathione levels in the body.

This is a good glutathione product. However, be cautious, as excessive intake can reduce your body's endogenous production. It assists me in sleeping on nights when exposed to mould, and I can feel the detoxifying effects throughout my body. I take two capsules, which seems more effective than one. Great packaging and a quality brand. The size of the pills is manageable.
